We bought this dehydrator in NYC and took it to Costa Rica to dehydrate coconut meat, kale and tomatoes. We loved it especially because it’s so easy to take apart and to clean with a water hose. In Germany, this one wouldn’t work without an extra huge power adapter.

We stayed in Vienna for 2 weeks and ate at simply raw bakery almost everyday. Not just the food is amazing, the whole place is a hidden treasure in the middle of the otherwise very touristy center of Vienna. We got to try many different raw vegan dishes and can’t to share our wonderful experience with you.
Small soup, salad & small dessert
We had the menu (9,90€) once the and fell in love with the salad. As we share all the dishes, we love to get the full sizes of the salad and the soup. All the components change weekly.
Beet soup with avocado and horseradish.
We had the beet soup (5,90€) as a part of the menu and also the full size. I love horseradish, it’s spicy and delicious. I found the soup too watery and liquidy at first, but it was flavorful and filling nevertheless.
Tomato soup with avocado and basil.
We had the tomato soup (5,90€) slightly warm the second time, with no oil and salt. The first time, we ordered it without the alterations. It was absolutely delicious, maybe a touch too salty, but creamy and rich. The second time our custom soup was warm, which we loved, but a little too spicy and less creamy. We will get it with no salt but with the oil the next time.
With radish, tomato, bell peppers, grapefruit, basil dressing and croutons.
The salads (9,90€) are always refreshing and filling. We love the creamy dressing and the daily slightly different ingredients. I never gets boring.
Vanilla-coconut ice cream
The ice cream (2X2,50€) is rich and fluffy, more like a whipped cream. The coconut taste is well hidden, it tastes like a super delicious vanilla cream. We like it best with berries and chocolate sauce.
Veggies with hummus & chive bread, granola with fresh fruits & cashew-mylk, chocolate mousse with orange.
The breakfast (16,90 €) is an amazing meal and a tasting plate at the same time. We immediately fell in love with the hummus and the granola after having it at our first visit. Definetely recommend it for any meal of the day.
With fresh fruits, & homemade cashew-mylk.
The granola (6,90 €) is our breakfast go to dish. We had it with different fruit and almond or cashew milk. Loved all the variations.
zucchini hummus with tomatoes, cucumber,
olives & homemade rawfood bread
The hummus (7,90 €) is amazing, it doesn’t taste like a chickpea hummus, it has it’s own light and fresh taste and it’s creamy. Our twick on the hummus is to get it with no extra drizzled oil on top and no salt. We ordered it with extra bread the first time, but it’s unnecessary, as the bread and the veggies are pretty well balanced with the amount of hummus.
2 slices of banana bread with apricot jam
or our simply (not raw*) nougatella
(6,50 €)
The nougatella is not raw!! There is the option of getting it with chocolate sauce, vanilla sauce, or jam.
Homemade raw bread with simply raw vegan onion ‚schmaltz‘
The bread (3,90 €) is amazing. The spread tastes exactly like the real schmalz, a far as I can remember. We had it almost every time we ate at the restaurant. Sometimes, they would sprinkle extra salt and pepper all over the plate, but you can ask them not to.
Simply raw pizza with basil, cashew, onion, rock salt
The pizza (10,90 €) was good. The “cheese” on top was a nice treat, taste pretty much like parmesan. The base and the sauce were delicious and flavorful. The base was thiner than the breads and the tomato sauce tasted like a delicious italian pasta alla bolognese. We forgot to order it with no extra oil on top.
Homemade raw bread with tomato-salsa: tomatoes, spring onions, rocket, olive oil
Bruschetta (4,90 €) is made of raw bread, green creamy spread and tomatoes with oil. We ordered it without the oil the second time and it was even tastier. Sometimes, they would sprinkle extra salt and pepper all over the plate, but you can ask them not to.
With lettuce, veggies and
sour cream dressing
We loved the raw vegan sour cream dressing in the club sandwich (10,90 €).
Lamb‘s lettuce, zucchini, carrot, tomatoes, rocket,
avocado, sprouts, coconut yoghurt, peanut dressing, sprouted quinoa.
The Big Buddha (12,90 €) was delicious, a perfect lunch meal. We subbed the peanut dressing with the salad dressing as the peanuts are roasted. The quinoa can be sprouted or cooked, make sure you order what you want.
The Kaiserschmarrn (6,90 €) as I remember it is soft and fluffy, the Kaiserschmarrn here was on the drier site, and tasted like crumbles on the cake. I don’t like dry pasty, so it wasn’t for me. Stefan loved it though, he likes dry pastry and cake crumbles.
Cupcakes are 4,50€ a piece. We tried poppyseed-lemon, double chocolate, banana-pecan, chocolate-banana and many more.
We loved the chocolate, the red velvet and the banana base the best. The strawberry cream and the lemony cream were our favs.
Cakes (4,90€) change daily and are all delicious. We love the almond and chia base and fruity creams.
Sachertorte is a must for a Vienna visitor, this raw vegan version is not just tastier as the original, it’s also better for the animals and the planet.
Served with chocolate sauce.
The tiramisu (6,90 €) is creamy, rich and simply delicious. Every layer is delicious in its own way. The almond base is moist and flavorful, the other layers creamy and sweet. The bitter chocolate sauce is a perfect contrasting addition to this perfect cake.
Only available when the large organic strawberries are in season. So worth trying! A different kind of a raw dessert that we haven’t had anywhere else. We ordered extra vanilla sauce.
Simply raw bakery is a lovely place to have breakfast or lunch or just a piece of an amazing raw cake. It’s a family business run by the most amazing people, sometimes you can spot one of the 2 family dogs hanging out in the background, they are super friendly and cute. We love the incredible chill atmosphere, the fast and friendly service and the daily changing cakes. We got to try so many different thing there while in Vienna.
We were also amazed by the flexibility of the stuff to accommodate our wishes for low-salt and oil-free dished. The ingredients are organic and the prices considering the quality and the labor intensity of preparing raw gourmet dishes almost too low. An onther huge plus is the complete absence of animal products, no hidden milk or cheese and no honey, which is super rare even at “raw vegan” places.
*One thing I would love to see changed in the future, the labeling of cooked/roasted ingredients. I would make the ordering easier for me and other raw foodies. We accidentally ended up getting not raw dishes despite reading the menu carefully and consulting with the service. The dished known to me containing roasted nuts are nougatella spread (it is sold in jars and served with some dishes like banana bread), as well as sweets and dressings containing peanuts (sweets containing roasted peanuts can be a part of the lunch menu).
Nougatella is not raw*.
We would recommend anyone trying the amazing food at simply raw bakery and taking some pictures there, the place is just lovely.
Dill pickles are very popular in Germany. Unfortunately, they are not so easy to make raw and with no salt. It’s so much easier to achieve almost the same taste with sauerkraut and dill.
I almost always make just a basic pure cabbage recipe, sometimes I feel like adding different spices and herbs. Never ever one should assume that spices that you hate will make the sauerkraut better later. Only use your favorite ingredients.
Carrots are Stefans favorite dish. He consumes them as if they were a complete dish, in huge quantities, peeled with some tahini. Cabbage isn’t something he would usually ask for, so I started to ferment carrots with a little cabbage for him. And he loves it.
You can cut, slice or grate the carrots. I love to cut them with a noodle peeler. It’s fast and beautiful.
I haven’t tried to pickle carrots without cabbage, I kind of assume you need the cabbage to start the fermentation.
I don’t like adding salt, I try to use a small amount if any.
Kimchi is a traditional korean dish made with chinese cabbage, leek, garlic and ginger along with many other ingredients such as veggies, spicy paprika and more.
Most kimchi is dark orange from added gochutgaru (chili powder). I like white kimchi way better so my cabbage kimchi will be white.
I can’t live without sauerkraut. It adds the flavour and textures that lacks in our raw food diet otherwise. Some people eat sauerkraut for its probiotics, I eat it for the taste. The taste only.
Store bought contains lots of salt and we all know that we probably eat too much salt with all the other foods we consume daily. A sauerkraut lovers like me can’t restrict her sauerkraut consumption. For me, the only around it, is to make my own no or low salt sauerkraut. There is also no vinegar in my sauerkraut recipe.
I used to believe that making sauerkraut is really time consuming, it felt like a 2-days-event back when I was a child and all the family members had to participate. Stefan kind of told me that he did not want to help me with it and I had to reconsider the familiar method. I simplified all the steps to the extent that I make a 1 gallon jar once a week and it only takes me 10-15 minutes.
N°1 Fresh organic cabbage!
N°2 Never add spices and herb you don’t like!
N°3 Clean everything. Clean the veggies and the utensils properly. Don’t forget your hands.
N°4 Use drinking water for the sauerkraut, not the chlorinated!
Not all the ingredients that are usually cooked need to be cooked. Lentils for example can be soaked, sprouted and eaten draw. But be careful, some ingredients are poisonous if you eat in the raw, such as beans.

In Germany, you can find these products on amazon:
Pesto
Chips
Apfel-Zimt Schokolade
Rohkostcracker
We LOVE snacks, raw vegan snacks! Chocolate, bars, cookies are our staples. But chips? We are sceptical and excited at the same time!
My first foot steps in Asia were made in Bangkok. This city is nothing like I was imagining it. It is far more exxtreme. The good things are mtuch better, the bad much worse.
Temples are a must on your first visit. Make sure to check the opening hours and national_holidays.
We found our both condos on airbnb, we loved the incredible view and the central location. Modern condos have great pools, gyms and roof top terraces. Only the plumbing could be improved, most bathrooms and bedrooms smell like sewage in Thailand.
The only raw food restaurant is not vegan. So there is no gourmet option in Bangkok. You can find out more about this restaurant here and decide whether you want to dine here.
We love the gourmet grocery stores for their amazing organic mangos and some other organic fruit like apple bananas, papaya, greens, and veggies. We had most luck in these here
Other gourmet markets are in Siam Paragon, K Village, Terminal 21.
Cabs are simply disgusting in Bangkok. Every driver we ever had smokes inside the car and tried to cover the smell with the more disgusting scent. We took a regular cap from the airport and after waining for 40 minutes we endet up sitting in a stinking hell for another 40 minutes. We should have called an Uber. Uber driver have much cleaner cars, we never sate in a smelly car. Download the uber app.. Get your discount code here Startguthaben für dich.
You can buy me a smoothie and show some love back.
In the morning, I have no self-control, I need a plan. If I don’t feel like eating fruit, which is usually my go to breakfast, I’ll make a smoothie. It’s a plan, right? Let’s try it for a week straight. These fruit smoothies taste much better than coffee and will do a better job waking you up and keeping you energised till the next meal.
This smoothie tastes like a hot summer morning by the beach.
Always use ripe bananas for your smoothies. Ripe bananas are heavily spotted.
Carrot cake? This smoothie tastes like an awesome, refreshing carrot cake.
Strawberry yoghurt smoothie is the winner today.
If you don’t bring enough food while traveling, you might be ending up starving or binging on nasty foods you don’t normally eat. Fruit and raw food options are uncertain at the airport and on the plane. Organic and ripe fruit is non exciting.
Even I try to go for the fancy and comforting foods while I’m traveling, I try to stick to the foods I’m used to. For example too salty snacks with make me feel super thirsty and uncomfortable. Also eating lots of dehydrated foods or dried fruit after following a fresh fruit diet for month will dehydrate me and I wont enjoy the trip as much as I would do of water rich fruit. The good thing is, the foods I’m used to eat are also the cheap and easily available for taking on the trip.
When we are planing a special meal, we often try to be super perfect. And with food, perfect meany healthy. But there is no need to be to restrictive on the flight and deprive yourself of the foods you would usually eat. I even go a little overboard while traveling eating more comfort foods than usual. It helps me feeling comfy and happy. Traveling doesn’t happen every day for me and this one day of eating will not change my habits permanently nor will it get me out of shape. So I go for what seems beneficial for my happiness and make me feel great on the trip.
Water rich fruit makes me feel the best, watermelon and papaya are always part of my travel day breakfast. To take on the plane, I prefer lighter weight calorie-dense foods like power bars, dates, nuts.
Power Wraps (salt-free)
Bananas
Kale chips
Power bars
Dates
Nuts
