This modern city is a clean, concrete oasis in-between of chaotic south-Asia. We had a boarder run ahead of us to prolong our visa for Bali and landed here late at night.
Attraktionen
We didn’t have too much time and didn’t want to spend all of it. One thing we’ve been enjoying on you city tours was to catch a great view for above and to relax in nature. We went to the Marina Bay Sands and to the Marina Bay gardens. The breathtaking view and the calming atmosphere of the gardens were the highlights of our visit.
Avoiding Tourist Traps
The Flyer. Viel zu teuer für eine komplett verglaste Kapsel in der man nur wenige Minuten ganz oben ist. Für das Geld hat man auf Marina Bay besseren Ausblick und kann bleiben so lang man will. In den Marina Bay Gärten hat gibt viele sinnlose kostenpflichtige Attraktionen wie ein Gewächshaus oder eine schwebende Brücke, beide kosten Geld, Wartezeit in der Schlange und keinen Mehrwert.
Wohnen
Wohnen in der Innenstadt ist sehr teuer aber ein Muss für die optimale Stadterfahrung. Wir waren in einem wunderschönen Condo, dass wir hier online https://www.airbnb.com/c/imelny?s=8 gebucht haben. Der Wohnraum in Singapur ist sehr teuer, was man bei der Reiseplanung berücksichtigen muss. Eine Familie zahlt in einen schönen Condo bis zu 8000€ im Monat, das macht sich bei den Preisen für den kurzem Urlaub genauso sichtbar.
Rohkost
Rohkost geht überall. Früchte, Nüsse und Nussbuttern findet man in jedem supermarkt. Wir haben alles in Bioqualität gefunden. Ein Restaurant dass wir gut fanden war Afterglow. Schau dir hier Bilder vom Essen an.
Bio
Man bekommt als Rohköstler genug zu essen, nicht die Welt, aber genug.
Am besten fanden wir die Auswahl im
Paragon Market Place. Nicht viel Bioobst, aber viel Salat und Rohkostnussbuttern.

Auto mieten?
Kaum einer fährt sein eigenes Auto in der Stadt, Autos sind teuer und ich habe nicht wirklich Parkmöglichkeiten gesehen. Vom Flughafen kommt man schon für $20 rein. Am besten Lädst du dir eine Uber-App runter und benutzt Uber. Hier ein kleines Startguthaben für dich.

Before booking our 3-week trip we considered quite a few things such as the weather, the air quality, availability of organic produce and the popularity for tourists. Hong Kong is a very popular destination for almost any nation, almost everyone speaks English in Hong Kong which makes traveling there very convenient. Most visiter come from China to Hong Kong. We wanted to avoid the big crowds and wouldn’t have gone during the summer. It is also pretty hot during this time here. In the autumn, the typhoon is raging over Hong Kong, not the best time to go either. Going during the Winter was the best time for us: amazing weather in Hong Kong and super bad weather back home in Germany. We went in the middle of November and stayed into the first week of December.
Getting Around in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has an amazing public transportation system and you can get anywhere, including from and to the airport.
We would totally recommend to get an Octopus card at the airport and one way ticket from the airport to the city. In the city, you can use your Octopus card for the metro, the busses, the tram, and the ferry. The airport ticket is cheaper than the octopus cart for the airport ride though. When we first arrived in Hong Kong, we managed to get as far into the city with the train as possible, but then were not able to find a bus stop and we didn’t have the octopus card yet, no one told us to get one 🙂 So we didn’t want to run around the station with our bags searching for the right bus for hours and tried to catch a taxi, which wasn’t easy. At the central station, they pick up passengers in one spot and we couldn’t find it either. We just used our uber app and got a nice ride to our Airbnb. We never took a cab in Hong Kong, the uber cars seemed cleaner and were stress-free.
Wifi
Buy your Sim Card directly at the airport or at a 7-Eleven. A Sim Card for the phone is the most convenient way to have internet access on the go. Xout apartment or hotel room will have some free wifi for sure for the heavy surfing, but on the go, you will be lost without your own internet. You won’t be able to find the next MRT station, to call you Uber driver, to get to the next incredible instagram photo spot.
Hotel or apartment in Hongkong
We were planning on staying for 3 weeks so we thought an apartment would be better for us as we like to have a kitchen to prep a salad or something. We found besides airbnb and site that offers serviced apartments for short or long periods of time. It’s called metroresidences.com we didn’t end up using it, but it’s worth checking out. We had 2 Airbnb apartments and were pretty disappointed with both of them. They were super small, not clean, cluttered with personal stuff, smelly and not a great value overall even in Hong Kong. If you are booking over Airbnb, we would definitely recommend to only book a superhost. Location-wise, we loved staying in Soho and would look for a place in that area should we come back to Hong Kong.

Free in Hong Kong
We were so amazed to find that so many, especially cultural events were free. Every museum we went to was free. But even major attractions like the Big Buddha or the Victoria peak are free except for the ride with the bus, you don’t have to take the expensive train or the cabin. Hong Kong is definitely one of the cities where you don’t have to take a guided touristy bus tour. Just hop on that double-decker bus whatever and drive around, get off and take a different one back. The same with the double-decker tram, how amazing are those. Also, the ferry is magical especially by night and almost free. And of course, the selfies you will take here are amazing and free.

Big Buddha by Crystal Cabin
It’s a pretty popular tourist attraction in Hong Kong and we didn’t want to miss out on it. I was a little opposed to the trip at first, I didn’t want it to turn into a whole day event and I also didn’t want to hang out there in the brightest sun, no way to get a good picture. We took a cable car around 3 pm and went back around 6 pm and had the maximum fun for a not too substantial time investment.
Who is the Big Buddha?
Big Buddha is a part of the Po Lin Monastery, a huge Buddha statue on the Lantau Island a 25 min ride from Tung hung Town Center MTR station.

How much is it to take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car?
It depends on the type of cabin you choose. You will get a discount if you preorder your ticket online beforehand. It is It is definitely recommended to buy the ticket online to skip the ticket line. There are 2 more lines though, the ticket redemption line and the waiting line for the cabin.
Is it worth to take the Crystal Cabin if you take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car?
Going back
We went just in time to catch the last cabins around 6 pm. The lane for the crystal cabis was much shorter than the one for the standard cabin, so we were lucky to have the crystal cabin round trip ticket.
If you find the cabins too expensive, you can take a bus for far less, the bus 23 is around 20 HKD and will take 50min. Hiking is also an option and will take 3 h across the mountains. We didn’t try these options through this time, but hiking there is definitely on the list.
GREENWOODS RAW CAFE Store
This shop is attached to the Greenwoods Raw Cafe in the center of Hong Kong. They sell some organic fruits and veggies, the availability really depends on the season and the day of the week. We found some great raw products here like raw nut butter, raw dates, and organic raw nuts.
They had a 5 years celebration and therefore everything was 20% off. Here are some beauty products, organic spices and organic nuts.
