We went up the Victoria peak and went to the gardens later. The view was spectacular and not to crowderd even on a Saturday.

Victoria Peak in Hong Kong is one of the most popular attractions in Hong Kong. It is a super nice trip into nature with a spectacular city view from the top. We spend a wonderful half day there and would love to share our experience so you’re all set up four your trip.
Chose a clear good weather day. If it’s sunny, bring a head or an umbrella. The time is absolutely up to you, we went in the morning on a Saturday, but going there at the sunset would be undoubtedly amazing as well. Weekdays are less busy we were told.
As suggested on all the sites and in vlogs, we went to the peak tram station. It was on a Saturday and the waiting line for a ticket was ridiculously long, we would have waited for 2 hours easily, so we decided to take a bus instead. If you wanna skip the ticket line you can pre-purchase the ticket for the next day online and avoid some part of the line. If you decide to go by bus, take the 15. At the tram stations, there was no 15 bus stop, at least not that we could spot it and we took the minibus 1 instead, it’s just up the bridge. Make sure to have 10 HKD in cash exactly or your Octopus card.
For a good view, you need to access the viewing platform. It’s not free, we bought the ticket, but we could just have paid for it after going up the escalators with the Octopus card.
If you need some organic and vegan snacks, don’t waste your time looking around here, just walk up to the next Market Place, it’s 5 minutes and you can buy everything you need for your picknick in the Victoria Peak Garden.
The walk up to the gardens is steep and takes 20-30 min, especially if you are carrying all the picknick food and drinks. We enjoyed our picknick up there and returned to the city by taking the stairs all the way down. Finding the path is pretty challenging, have your phone fully charged and have enough credit for wifi.

Show of lights happens every night at 8:00 p.m. The best location is the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. You can take a ferry from the pier, it’s really affordable and fast. Have your octopus card ready.
After watching the Light Show at 8 pm, we went on a walk to the market, it’s a touristy spot with all kinds of unnecessary bling, shirts, scarfs, sunglasses, and fake lego but the atmosphere is nice.

It has been raining for the past 3 days non-stop and today is the first day that it almost doesn`t rain at all. We live in the city center and left for a late night walk to enjoy the cozy city. There is not much going on, maybe because it’s a weeknight, but also because the people here are so calm you almost don’t notice them.
Banana ice cream is an amazing and healthy alternative to regular ice cream or even vegan ice cream. It’s creamy, sweet, delicious and so easy to make. Consistency-wise it can be pretty close to a regular ice cream if you put it in the freezer after prepping for 20-30 min, If you serve it right away, it has the consistency of a soft serve.
Back in Teneriffa, I bought a huge bag of organic ginger powder that I needed for a recipe. And I had so much left over ginger that I started adding it to everything. We were eating tons of bananas back in Teneriffa, there was not much other fruit, so eventually, the ginger powder landed in my banana ice cream and I loved it.
I tried adding ginger to the banana ice cream before, but I always ended up chewing on those wooden strings from the fresh ginger, and yes, I peed it before grating. Also, the flavor was not very blended it, I would have gingery spots and spots with no ginger at all. When I added more ginger to have more of the flavor, the ice cream would come out too spicy, even hot. So my preference is always to use ginger powder, even if I can get my hand on some fresh organic ginger.
I tried making nice cream so many ways and I find the food processor method to be the easiest. You can also use your immersion stick to blend up the bananas, therefore us a wide bowl. It works in a powerful blender as well, but the ice cream comes out softer I find.
This farmers’ market is awesome and super central on the Hong Kong island on pier 7. All the produce is organic and the vendors super nice. The vibe is a little tense, the pace is fast.

The vendors don’t bring a lot of produce and the best stuff goes fast, be there 10:45 to get all you need. Bring cash, small banknotes are better, vendors might not have change.

Take a ferry, it works with your Octopus card and is very affordable, I would say almost free.
To see the light show on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, take the StarFerry from pier 7.
For a quick ride further from the center, take a small ferry.
There are many stations to take this little boots that looks like a pirate ship.

Our little trip today happened accidentally, we went for a long walk along the waterfront promenade near our house and had to cross a long bridge to get to the other side. The walk along the bridge wasn’t so exciting because of the traffic and we planned to take a bus back home, but then Stefan saw the ferry, people were getting of it and on it swiping their octopus card, surprisingly, the ferry went just across the river where we needed to go. It was also very affordable, 2.20 HKD which is about 25 Cents per person.
We discovered the Hong Kong Arts Centre walking around in the area and are glad we checked out the Gallery, it’s free and the art is incredible.

We are dedicated to eat all organic and always make sure to find the best places to shop for organic produce and snack wherever we go. We found lots of organic in Hong Kong. Here I’ll provide an overview, check the stores and markets for products and prices.
Before coming to Hong Kong we made sure there is enough organic in Hongkong to be found and made a list of shops and delivery services, so the day we arrived, we were able to pick up some produce without a long internet search and asking around. The thing with asking around anyways is that people who don’t care much about organic are unaware of its existence or simply assume everything at the fancier stores or fruit stools is organic. But as everywhere, organic in Hong Kong is only organic if it is CERTIFIED organic. Many organic products are imported Here in Hong Kong, some products are grown locally and have a USDA or Chinese certificate.
We also found a raw vegan restaurant, it uses (some) organic produce.
Keep in mind, we visited Hong Kong in November for 3 weeks, prices and availability can vary immensely between seasons. I always compare the prices and availability with Germany, Germany has a rather great availability of organic produce and very fair prices. In NYC we would spend at least twice as much as in Germany shopping at Wholefoods and Trader Joes, in LA the same amount money if shopping at an organic wholesale and 3 times as much as in Germany when shopping at Wholefoods. The most shocking is a very bad availability of local fruits, probably due to the season, the imported fruit is very expensive, bananas 11 HKD (~1€+/1$+) each. The greens and veggies, on the other hand, are easier to find and the local brands are not too pricey. The nuts and seeds are also easy to find, but the nuts are rarely raw. Cosmetics, cleaning stuff and detergent are easy to find as well at the health food stores. It was the easiest to get the produce at the supermarkets, but here, everything is wrapped in plastic. Farmers markets are far out and have only the seasonal local stuff which is great, but they are only 2 times a week. Health food stores are the best for treats, nut butter, vegan meat alternatives, and natural cleaning products.
After going to the organic farmers market we passed through the mega mall on our way to the bus back home and discovered this large food supermarket and wanted to check out they organic options as we didn’t get everything we needed at the farmers’ market.
The fruit display is beautiful, but only a few fruits are actually certified organic, let’s see which ones are.
Banans are certified organic and 17 HKD (1.90€/$2.17) for 3 bananas.
Here we have an overview of the biggest organic fridge in the store. There are some organic fruit, but mainly organic greens and organic veggies.
Organic papaya is around 50 HKD (5.60€/$6.38) for a kg, one fruit is about 1 kg. There are also organic limes, organic ginger, organic cucumbers, organic peas, organic baby corn and asparagus.
Organic greens and organic romaine hearts are around 60 HKD (~6€/$8).
Organic bell peppers are around 30 HKD for 2 pieces (~3€/$4).
Here is another partially organic display in the middle of the store. There is organic pumpkin, organic greens, organic red and white cabbage, and couple of other veggies I captured in following pics better.

Durian is not organic, they just cut it open and I could take a look at the stems, there was no visible ripening agent on it. Doen’t mean the durians are not treated but ok for me as an exception, we bought one piece on Vietnam durian, the Malaysian was too expensive we found
Let’s move on to the dried goods. I couldn’t spot any canned goods such as organic beans, lentils, or tomatoes here.
