Eating cooked food again?
One Sunday, we decided to make some hummus to see how we would like a cooked dish after months of eating raw foods only. We cooked a huge pot of hummus, cut up lots of veggies to eat it with and took the food to a park for a nice picnic. We ate all the veggies and just a few spoons of hummus. It was not as good as we had remembered it.
My taste buds got used to the new tastes and textures quickly and the memories of how the cooked food tastes like did not match up with the reality anymore. To be clear, this story is a personal anecdote. This is how I felt at that time.
I went raw NOT because I think hummus, cooked beans, cooked veggies or any other cooked whole plant foods are unhealthy or inferior to raw foods. I went raw, because raw foods tasted better. Cooked plant foods like legumes, tubers, and grains will always be my fallback foods, if I need or want them.
Raw food can be pretty inaccessible, pricy and unsustainable at times. There is also no scientific research on raw food diets and absolutely no guarantee it is even safe to eat raw foods only. Please do your research on what to eat for a long and healthy life. This book is absolutely not meant to advise you on what to eat and what not to eat!
