Transition

First steps

The very first step for me, even before I thought about going raw or vegan, was to switch to an all-organic diet. When I met my wife she was into organic for quite some time already and passionately explained the difference between organic and conventional farming to me. I started buying organic, but my diet stayed pretty much the same. I only couldn’t have some snacks, convenience products, and take-out, that were not available in organic quality at that time. We cooked at home a lot. I tried buckwheat, millet, and tofu for the first time.

Vegetarian

A couple of years later, I became a vegetarian. We both were very busy working at that time and had pretty much no time for cooking and ate lunch at the canteen of our local organic supermarket. They always had a vegan option, which I sometimes chose. The transition from vegetarian to vegan was pretty smooth from here on as I rarely had any animal products anyway.
