My motivation to give a raw food diet a try

Animals

Before I went raw, I went vegetarian first. Then I went vegan, as soon as I realized how unethical eating animals is. I couldn’t come up with any good reason for causing unnecessary suffering to the animals anymore. I had to face the fears every meat eater has when it comes to switching to a plant-based diet. But it was very easy to overcome them.

The temptation of the raw food diet

In 2013 I heard about the raw food diet and its supposed benefits, so I decided to give it a try. I was especially intrigued by the health benefits and the gain of energy raw foodies reported. Before switching to the raw vegan diet I ate an all-organic diet for at least 5 years but didn’t notice any extraordinary changes in my health at that point.

Is the raw food diet really that good?

Many positive and negative stories about the raw food diet have been told, those are anecdotal evidence of no scientific value. On the other hand, there is strong scientific evidence for the benefits of a whole-food plant-based diet. I try to build my diet around the principles of the whole food plant-based approach.
