Even a hint about a possibility to live happily and healthy without eating animal flesh is perceived as preaching by flesh eating humans. Should we withhold the information that could change the life of the unknowing and the lives and of thousands of animals to a better? Should we not talk about the possibility of a life without eating rotten flesh?
Every single vegan I’ve met within the past 3 year stated clearly that gong vegan was the best decision of his life. The only regret this decisions is not to go vegan earlier. I feel the same! But who could and should have told me?
Years before going vegan, I met 2 vegans in real life, I wish they would have talked about their lifestyle more openly, or challenged me to try vegan or at least to think about veganism, or at least let me feel guilty about my milk drinking and thinking I’m not hurting anyone with it.
If we don’t talk about veganism openly (aka preaching) now, we rub the future vegans the chance of going vegan sooner. We have to find our voice, the language we are comfortable using to engage in not always comfortable discussions with the unknowing. We should not avoid talking about veganism only to not to upset the flesh eaters. Keeping quiet means agreeing with the believe that eating meat or drinking milk is a personal choice and doesn’t heart anybody.
You can buy me a smoothie and show some love back.
In the morning, I have no self-control, I need a plan. If I don’t feel like eating fruit, which is usually my go to breakfast, I’ll make a smoothie. It’s a plan, right? Let’s try it for a week straight. These fruit smoothies taste much better than coffee and will do a better job waking you up and keeping you energised till the next meal.
This smoothie tastes like a hot summer morning by the beach.
Always use ripe bananas for your smoothies. Ripe bananas are heavily spotted.
Carrot cake? This smoothie tastes like an awesome, refreshing carrot cake.
Strawberry yoghurt smoothie is the winner today.

If you don’t bring enough food while traveling, you might be ending up starving or binging on nasty foods you don’t normally eat. Fruit and raw food options are uncertain at the airport and on the plane. Organic and ripe fruit is non exciting.
Even I try to go for the fancy and comforting foods while I’m traveling, I try to stick to the foods I’m used to. For example too salty snacks with make me feel super thirsty and uncomfortable. Also eating lots of dehydrated foods or dried fruit after following a fresh fruit diet for month will dehydrate me and I wont enjoy the trip as much as I would do of water rich fruit. The good thing is, the foods I’m used to eat are also the cheap and easily available for taking on the trip.
When we are planing a special meal, we often try to be super perfect. And with food, perfect meany healthy. But there is no need to be to restrictive on the flight and deprive yourself of the foods you would usually eat. I even go a little overboard while traveling eating more comfort foods than usual. It helps me feeling comfy and happy. Traveling doesn’t happen every day for me and this one day of eating will not change my habits permanently nor will it get me out of shape. So I go for what seems beneficial for my happiness and make me feel great on the trip.
Water rich fruit makes me feel the best, watermelon and papaya are always part of my travel day breakfast. To take on the plane, I prefer lighter weight calorie-dense foods like power bars, dates, nuts.

Tabbouleh is a staple in our kitchen and one of my fav salads. Unfortunately, my husband doesn’t like cauliflower. Here is something we both more than enjoy.
I have quite a few favorite recipes, this one is the latest addition to the list. I love everything about these noodles, their color, last, texture. The sauce is to die for. Creamy, cheezy, salty. You will not believe how easy and simple the recipe is.

I shared a coconut based kimchi soup with you guys here a while ago. Back in Europe, I struggle finding coconuts, they are much harder to find here than in the US. So I created a simplified recipe that doesn’t call for coconut water or anything special you might have troubles finding. Once your kimchi is ready to eat, this soup is made in a minute or two.
It might sound like an unnecessary effort to make kimchi, but it isn’t! It literally takes minutes to prep, the costs are minimal and you can make it your way. For me, I could not care less about traditional recipes and ways to prep food. We live in a new century and a new time where we have different needs, hygiene and taste as our ancestors who came up with the recipes we are recreating today. I don’t want to eat salt, fish oil, or other nasty thing used to make kimchi and I won’t. I’m proud of my salt-free kimchi, it’s amazing.
We biked to our nearest Whole Foods today to get a little workout and to pick up some ingredients for our breakfast. We have lots of ripe bananas at home and we want to use them up. A muesli is a perfect way to eat lots of bananas we believe. It’s a beautiful large market with lots of organic produce. We decided to buy some strawberries, cashews, and mulberries. It really doesn’t matter what kind of berries you use. Everything tastes great in this muesli. The same with the nuts, we added a little almond butter, cashews, pistachios, but you can leave them out or use the nuts and nut butters you like the most.
Watch us making the recipe, I visited my awesome friend Alicia and she did all the work while I filmed her. Does it make me a bad guest, I hope not!
all the recipes you will find are pretty complicated and call for salt
here, you don’t need fancy equipment, spices, and you don’t have to spend much time on preping these, and no salt is needed
1. pick the right tomatoes
2. wash them
3. pock holes in the tomatoes using a fork
4. place them in a glass jar
5. poor water over the tomatoes, the water should cover them
6. cover the tomatoes with a sprouting lid or a cloth
7. after 1,5-2 days scoop up the foam, repeat it daily
8. after 5 days smell on the tomatoes and try a piece
9. enjoy they as soon as they are sour to the core
10. store your pickled tomatoes in the fridge for up to 4 weeks
ripe tomatoes are the safest to eat, green tomatoes might be poisoners, so ripe tomatoes are the safest to pickle,
i like to pickle firmer tomatoes, so i would get either almost ripe tomatoes, or a firmer variety
plum tomatoes are for example firmer than heirloom tomatoes
garlic, dill, fennel seeds, black pepper, bay leave, lemon peel
no, you can do it without, but the pickling process will be much faster with the juice
to be safe, add 1/4 cup fresh cabbage
there is no reason to buy sauerkraut if you try to avoid salt in your diet, store bought sauerkraut is full of salt

onions and chives are completely optional!
so is pineapple! but you could use mango instead or some peaches for the sweetness
cilantro is great, but parsley will do the job too
avocado, this is a hard one! but is you want to make it fat free just use peeled zucchini or fresh corn, if you don’t mind fat, use some nuts, how about pecans? walnuts? or sunflower seeds? pumpkin seeds?
corn has to be fresh and organic, if you don’t have it use anything that is easy to blend, such as zucchini, cucumber, and sone presoaked sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds
chili, sun dried tomatoes, taco seasoning are optional, but if you are using those, make sure they are salt free, you don’t need salt in this flavourful recipe, but its up to you ♥
