My New Zealand photo and video gear

My Camera

My old good Canon 5D Mark III still reliable after 6 years intense use with several lenses.

My Zoom Lense

For the Trip I decided to use the Canon Zoom Lense 20-70 4.0 on this trip, it’s wide enough for the awesome nature pics here in New Zealand and great for filming videos.

Gimble

We bought the Osmo Gimble Pocket here in New zealand, it just came out and is awesome. Especially attached to the iPhone for more control.

iPhone Gimpble

I had this gimble for years now. I love it, it’s sturdy, reliable and handles his 3rd generation of iPhones so well. Now using it with my iPhone XS.

My Tripod

Got this SLIK Sprint Pro II years ago and used it mainly for my smaller Canon or iPhone for great selfies or filming videos.

Glif

My iphone holder is essential for taking couple selfies.

Remote Control for the iPhone

So small and absolutely perfect for selfie shots.

Podcast Microphone

We use it to film videos attaching it to the iphone.

Main Microphone

This Apogee MIC PLUS USB Microphone is perfect for food prep videos where I don’t want to have a Rode attached to me or as a backup mic for our podcasts and videos for the Fruitadmin channel.

Buying the ticket

Get your ticket online, most likely, there will be no tickets available when you get there!

What is the best day to go to Hobbiton

If you wanna have the Hobbiton to yourself when buying your ticket, here is the bad news: All days are pretty well visited, days around holidays might be extra busy and we would try to avoid those. If you primary are looking forward to taking pictures for Instagram, go on a cloudy but not rainy day, you will have a nice even natural lighting.

What is the best time to go to Hobbiton

Because we could not predict the clouds booking the tickets way in advance, we picked the last tour hoping for the sun to be less intense and harsh. It worked out pretty well, the first holes were pretty bride and contrasty, but the later holes were in the shadow.

We drow from Auckland with a stop in Hamilton for some second-hand shopping and at the organic blueberry farm to pick up some fresh blueberries for the week.

Second hand shops in New Zealand

There are some great second-hand shops in New Zealand. Most sell not just clothes, but also household items, especially kitchen stuff.

In Auckland, there are some chains and little boutiques. The chains are Red Cross, Salvatory Army, and Hospice Shop.

The Red Cross and Salvatory Army are cheaper, the quality of clothes is not great, the shops, at least the ones we have been to are smelly. The Hospice Shops are clean, the clothes are more expensive, but in much better condition.

This Hospice Shop in Takapuna is great

Here in Birkenhead are the big second-hand chains alongside with smaller second-hand boutiques.
