42 degres | Paris, France

We’ve been to 42 degres 3 time so far. We love the idea of the raw food restaurant in Paris. We so wanted to fall in love with it. It happened to a certain degree.

Let’s start with the dishes we loved and keep the other ones for dessert.

Portobello mushroom burger.

Burger (18€) made with mushroom bun, almond sunflower seed flax patty, veggie fries, vegan mayonnaise, ketchup.

The burger was the first and the best dish we had at 42 degres. The mayo and the patty gave the burger an authentic, fast food like texture. The patty had a really meaty feel to it. The veggie fries had a nice soft texture, almost like cooked veggies, not much flavor, but lots of oil on them. Just like the side salad. I’m not the biggest fan on unnecessary oil that doesn’t make the dish taste better, but just cover everything in it’s boring way. We had the burger twice, and the second time it came with a withered salad leaf. A hand crafted 18€ burger deserves a fresh salad leaf or at least chop off the weathered ends.

Quinoa pancake

Quinoa pancake (17€) with tzatziki, and pureed zucchini.

We loved the texture of the pancake, it was as soft as a good raw bread but fluffier. The tzatziki was awesome, creamy and light, and very authentic. The base of the dish, that tasted like green pea soup was amazing. If they would have this pea soup on the menu, we would get it every single time.

Frawmages

Vege frawmages (15€) with onion bread and crackers.

The cheeses were good. I liked the smoked cheese the best and the truffle cheese. The creamy cheese was to sour and the other cheeses quite neutral tasting. The bread and the crackers were amazing. I would definitely get an extra serving of those.

Gaspacho

Tomato gaspacho (9€) with mustard ice cream.

This is an incredible raw soup. Really tasty, really special. The mustard ice cream is as good as an unexpected companion of a soup. To me, the best starter at 42 degres.

Tips

As all the raw restaurants we’ve visited, rawtastic has amazing dishes, and some items on the menu I don’t quite like. Once I figured out what I like, I’m never been disappointed. Order the tasting platter eating here for the first time. Bring cash, you can’t pay with card (yet).
